The attitude of the European population towards Muslims and immigrants has changed, sometimes drastically, over the past few decades. The quantitative evaluation of the data from the European Value Studies between 1990 and 2017 initially shows changes in questions of faith, tolerance and political attitudes. Following on from this, the question of the extent to which religiosity is of particular importance in attitudes towards Muslims and immigrants is pursued. At the same time, theses are presented as to why there are very different attitudes towards Muslims and immigrants in different European countries.
