To submit a proposal for a contributed talk, send the LaTeX file with your abstract to stde2024@uhk.cz. Prepare your abstract using these template and guidelines. Please, name your file as follows: surname_name.tex
Some time later after the abstract submission, you will receive an email from us with the information whether you talk is accepted. Please, do not pay the conference fee until you receive this mail (unless, you are going to participate even without making a talk).
The number of slots for contributed talks is limited! Therefore, please, do not wait till the last minute.

Travel

How to get to Hradec Králové

By plane

There is no international airport in Hradec Králové, but you could use the one in Prague (Václav Havel Prague International Airport), which is 150 km far. Prague has aerial connections with most metropolises all around the world.
To get from the airport to the centre of Prague, you can use the direct bus service Airport express from the airport to the main train station. The ticket costs 100 CZK ( = 4 EUR), you can buy it directly by the driver. Alternatively, you can get to the nearest metro stations Nádraží Veleslavín (bus No.119, journey time 15 min) or Zličín (bus No.100, journey time 17 min); then by metro you can continue to the main railway station (Hlavní nádraží), the main bus station (Florenc) or bus station Černý most. Prague Transit Company charges a fare of CZK 40 (= 1.60 EUR) for all journeys. Tickets can be bought from vending machines in the airport and must be validated on the bus.
There also small local airports in Brno (regular flights from Milan/Bergano or London Stansted) and Ostrava (regular flights from Warsaw and London Stansted). Both cities have train connection with Hradec Králové (with a stopover in Pardubice). Other Czech aiports serve only for charter flights.
Finally, you can also fly to Vienna, and then continue the journey by train (again with a stopover in Pardubice) or to Wroclaw, and then continue the journey by bus (there is a direct connection by FlixBus).

By train

You can find all train connections at IDOS.cz. Most of the trains are operated by the Czech Railways (České dráhy). Direct trains from Prague main train station (Praha hl.n.) to Hradec Králové go almost every hour (at XX:09) and the journey takes 1 hour 41 minutes. Furthermore, there are convenient connections with Vienna (via Pardubice).
Besides Czech Railways, there are two private operators RegioJet (in particular, the line Budapest-Vienna-Bratislava-Prague going through Pardubice) and Leo Express (in particular, the line Košice-Prague also going through Pardubice).

By bus

There are direct buses between Prague Florenc Bus Terminal (ÚAN Florenc) and Hradec Králové Bus Terminal (Terminál hromadné dopravy). Also, there is a bus line started at the metro station Černý Most in Prague. The travel time is approximately 1 hour 20 minutes. You can find connections at IDOS.cz.
There are also direct buses from Wroclaw, Vienna, Munich and other European cities. For international connections we suggests the aggregator BusRadar.com
The bus terminal and the train main station in Hradec Králové are located in 5 minutes walk from each other.

By car

The speed limits in Czech Republic are as follows:
  • 130 km/h (81 mph) on highways (dálnice); within settlements the speed limit is set to 80 km/h (50 mph).
  • 110 km/h (68 mph) on roads for motorcars (silnice pro motorová vozidla); within settlements the speed limit is set to 80 km/h (50 mph).
  • 90 km/h (56 mph) on regular roads.
  • 50 km/h (31 mph) in settlements (80 km/h (50 mph) on highways or roads for motorcars lying within settlements).
The drivers are obliged to pay a fee (200 CZK = 8 EUR for one day or 270 CZK = 10.50 eur for 10 days) for driving on highways in the Czech Republic. The vignettes are valid for a given license plate and can be bought at the official E-shop, at the Czech post offices, at the gas stations EuroOil or at the machines near the state borders.
Hradec Králové is connected by highway D11 to the capital city Prague from the west. The journey from there takes about an hour on average and is about 120 kms long.
From Vienna, you can take the E 461 road through Brno and then in Svitavy switch for the E 442 and then to D35. The distance from the Austrian capital to Hradec Králové is about 275 km (170 miles).
The shortest way from Bratislava is by taking the D2 highway to Brno, then E 461 and later E 442. It is 280 km far (175 miles) from Hradec Králové.
From Poland, take the E 67 road and then D11. The distance from Warsaw to Hradec Králové is about 500 km (310 miles).

How to move around Hradec Králové

Most places of interest in Hradec Králové can be reached by walking, however, sometimes it is more convenient to use public transport. Hradec Králové Transit Company (DPMHK, Dopravní podnik města Hradce Králové) operates a dense net of buses/trolleybuses. Tickets can be bought
  • by a contactless bank card on the bus,
  • in paper form from newspaper kiosks at the railway station (e.g. at the Relay shop) and must be manually validated in the bus (use the front door),
  • by the bus driver (do not use high-value notes).
The single ticket fare ranges from 14 to 30 CZK (depending on how long is your ride and where you buy your ticket), see the information about the fares at DPMHK webpage.
If you go from the railway station or bus terminal directly to the conference venue use the stop "Fakultni nemocnice" (buses No. 1, 9, 24) or "Zimni stadion" (buses No. 2, 4, 16, 19).
The hotel Černigov is located near the main train station. To go to the hotel "Tereziánsky dvůr", use (trolley)buses No. 2, 4 and exit at the "Komenského" stop. To go to the hostel "Academic", use No. 1, 16, 19 and exit at the "Heyrovského" stop. To get to the hotel "Alessandria" use buses No. 3, 12 and exit at the "Alessandria" stop. The other hotels are located in 5 minutes walk from the stop "Adalbertinum"; from the main train station you can reach it by (trolley)buses No. 2, 5, 11, 15, 16, 17. All connections can be found at IDOS.cz/hradeckralove.
Taxi's park stand can be found at main train station. Alternatively, you can order taxi by phone: 100TAXI (+420 605 123 456), Metro taxi (+420 720 444 000). The price of the taxis ordered by a phone call starts from 100 CZK (4 EUR) for a short ride.
Finally, there is Bicycle Sharing System operated by NextBike providing a 15 minutes free for each ride thanks to the support of the city of Hradec Králové.

Conference venue

The conference will take place in the lecture room S11 located on the ground flour of the building of the Faculty of Science of the University of Hradec Králové (Přírodovědecká fakulta UHK) at the University Campus near the confluence of the rivers Labe (Elbe) and Orlice.
