    History

The Center was established within the Philosophical Faculty at the University of Hradec Králové in 2009, thanks to support from a five-year grant from the European Structural Funds (ESF), with another five-year extension. The scientific board of the LMS Center was appointed by the head of the department, and Ondřej Švec became the first director of the Center. After the departure of Ondřej Švec, Ladislav Koreň took over the management of the Center in 2019. From this moment on, the Center has also been generously supported by the Philosophical Faculty. Under the new director, Matej Drobňák was appointed as the coordinator of activities, and he took responsibility for planning and organizing the activities of the Center. In 2021, a new scientific board was elected to oversee compliance with the center’s long-term goals. In more than a decade of its existence, the LMS Center has hosted over 150 speakers, including such figures as Robert Brandom, Huw Price, Michael Tomasello, and Martin Kusch.
