Kniha se zab\u00fdv\u00e1 postglaci\u00e1ln\u00edm v\u00fdvojem krajiny a\u00a0vz\u00e1jemn\u00fdm vztahem p\u0159\u00edrody a\u00a0civilizace, p\u0159i\u010dem\u017e kombinuje p\u0159\u00edstupy tradi\u010dn\u00edch obor\u016f \u2013 ekologie, botaniky, archeologie a\u00a0kvart\u00e9rn\u00ed geologie. Vzd\u00e1len\u00e1 minulost n\u00e1m je p\u0159\u00edstupn\u00e1 jen \u201edetektivn\u00ed\u201c prac\u00ed s\u00a0nep\u0159\u00edm\u00fdmi daty, kter\u00e1 n\u00e1m dovoluj\u00ed rekonstruovat minul\u00e9 klimatick\u00e9 podm\u00ednky. R\u016fzn\u00e9 typy usazenin a\u00a0sedlin spolu se sediment\u00e1rn\u00edmi archivy z\u00a0jezer a\u00a0ra\u0161elini\u0161\u0165 nach\u00e1zej\u00edc\u00edch se v\u00a0bl\u00edzkosti skaln\u00edch p\u0159evis\u016f poskytuj\u00ed neoceniteln\u00e9 z\u00e1znamy o\u00a0historii vegetace, historii po\u017e\u00e1r\u016f a\u00a0klimatick\u00fdch zm\u011bn a\u00a0dokumentuj\u00ed nep\u0159etr\u017eit\u00fd v\u00fdvoj \u017eivotn\u00edho prost\u0159ed\u00ed posledn\u00edch zhruba 16\u00a0000 let. Dlouhodob\u00e9 moderov\u00e1n\u00ed p\u0159\u00edrodn\u00edho d\u011bn\u00ed lidsk\u00fdmi aktivitami bylo objevov\u00e1no a\u017e postupn\u011b, t\u0159eba pr\u00e1v\u011b prost\u0159ednictv\u00edm studia archeologick\u00fdch vrstev pod p\u0159evisy, pylov\u00fdch zrn v\u00a0ra\u0161elin\u00e1ch, uhl\u00edk\u016f v\u00a0p\u016fd\u00e1ch. P\u0159edstava o\u00a0tom, jak minul\u00e9 ud\u00e1losti a\u00a0procesy formovaly sou\u010dasnost, n\u00e1m m\u016f\u017ee pomoci ch\u00e1pat sou\u010dasn\u00e9 zm\u011bny p\u0159\u00edrody a\u00a0zejm\u00e9na nastavit p\u0159\u00edstup k\u00a0jej\u00ed ochran\u011b. Z\u00a0tis\u00edc\u016f let v\u00fdvoje holoc\u00e9nu popsan\u00e9ho v\u00a0knize auto\u0159i dovozuj\u00ed: \u017ee p\u0159\u00edroda a\u00a0krajina se m\u011bnily v\u017edy, m\u011bn\u00ed se a\u00a0budou se m\u011bnit i\u00a0nad\u00e1le; st\u0159edoevropsk\u00e1 krajina byla po mnoho tis\u00edcilet\u00ed spoluutv\u00e1\u0159en\u00e1 lidmi a\u00a0kl\u00ed\u010dem k\u00a0udr\u017een\u00ed biodiverzity byla a\u00a0je pestr\u00e1 mozaika, kde ka\u017ed\u00fd kousek krajiny m\u016f\u017ee vypadat a\u00a0fungovat jinak. Nem\u00e1 proto smysl hledat \u201ejedin\u00e1 spr\u00e1vn\u00e1\u201c \u0159e\u0161en\u00ed.<\/span><\/p>\r\nWe warmly congratulate Petr Pokorn\u00fd (Laboratory of Archaeobotany and Palaeoecology) and Petr \u0160\u00edda on their victory in this year\u2019s Magnesia Litera Awards in the Non-fiction category for their book\u00a0Hinterland: Archaeology of the Sandstone Landscapes of Northern Bohemia<\/em>.\r\n\r\nThe book addresses the postglacial development of the landscape and the mutual relationship between nature and human society, combining approaches from traditional disciplines such as ecology, botany, archaeology, and Quaternary geology. Understanding how past events and processes have shaped the present can help us better interpret current environmental changes and, in particular, inform our approach to nature conservation. Based on thousands of years of Holocene development described in the book, the authors conclude that nature and landscapes have always changed, are changing, and will continue to change; that the Central European landscape has been co-shaped by humans for many millennia; and that the key to maintaining biodiversity has been\u2014and continues to be\u2014a diverse mosaic in which each part of the landscape may differ in form and function.
