This broad topic involves interest in military facilities (field fortifications), venues of confrontation (battlefields), military camps, besieged sites and siege camps, as well as the impact of military events on the surrounding settlement and landscape. Emphasis is especially laid on non-destructive methods (the identification and survey of field remains, surface surveys, geophysical measurements), some features and situations have been investigated through rescue excavations.
