The history of activities associated with archaeology in the university environment of Hradec Kr\u00e1lov\u00e9 is inseparably connected with the personality of Radom\u00edr Tich\u00fd. In 1993, he became an assistant for Ancient History and Antiquity at the Department of History, Faculty of Education, University of Hradec Kr\u00e1lov\u00e9 (later the Institute of Historical Sciences at the University of Hradec Kr\u00e1lov\u00e9). In 1994, he founded there the First University Centre of Experimental Archaeology and the Society of Experimental Archaeology for study and research purposes. In 1995, the Monoxylon\u00b495 international student expedition was undertaken, which had been prepared for a long time (Baltic Sea 1992, Rozko\u0161 reservoir 1993-94). In 1996, R. Tich\u00fd, together with history students, started to develop the Centre of Experimental Archaeology V\u0161estary, which has served the purpose of education and popularisation of archaeology since then, recently under the name Archeopark V\u0161estary (2013). In 1996, the Institute of Historical Sciences under the leadership of Prof. Vladim\u00edr Wolf started to carry out its own departmental summer archaeological excavations (1996 princely manor of Vysok\u00e9 Chvojno, 1999 small castle of St\u00e1rkov, 2000 wood tar production facilities at Mostek, 2001 fortified manor house of Mlad\u00e9 Buky). In 1998, the Monoxylon II international expedition was undertaken \u2013 sailing on a reconstructed dugout boat from Lake Bracciano \u2013 along the shores of the western Mediterranean. In 2000, R. Tich\u00fd founded the magazine Reconstruction and Experiment in Archaeology. The results of experimental archaeology have been published on its pages (since 2005, under the name \u017div\u00e1 archeologie \u2013 Living Archaeology).<\/p>\n

In 2003, R. Tich\u00fd founded and managed the Archaeological Centre at the Faculty of Education, University of Hradec Kr\u00e1lov\u00e9. In 2004, this new institution carried out a rescue excavation of the site of Ob\u011bdovice near Hradec Kr\u00e1lov\u00e9. In 2005-2007 and 2008-2009, there was a rescue excavation at Tun\u011bchody near Chrudim and in 2007-2009, another rescue excavation at Ob\u011bdovice near Hradec Kr\u00e1lov\u00e9. This period was also associated with the first staff reinforcements. From 2003 onwards, Richard Th\u00e9r participated in the evaluation the archaeological excavation at Mohelnice, while Hana Dohn\u00e1lkov\u00e1 and Iva Dohn\u00e1lkov\u00e1 later transferred to the Archaeopark of Prehistory V\u0161estary. Thanks to this, the department became well-known as an institution where ancient technologies were studied with the help of information systems (R. Th\u00e9r).<\/p>\n

In 2005, R. Tich\u00fd founded the Department of Practical and Experimental Archaeology at the FHS, University of Hradec Kr\u00e1lov\u00e9 (today the Department of Archaeology at the FF UHK). There he accredited a number of new study programmes (2006 Bc. in Computer support in archaeology, 2007 Bc. in Archaeology, 2008 Mgr. in Archaeology, 2009 PhD in Archaeology).
