The Archaeology Department of the Philosophical Faculty offers Erasmus student mobilities for traineeship. The traineeships are available for Archaeology students of the Master‘s level and for doctoral candidates (also students of the Bachelor‘s level with experience can apply). This opportunity is open for students enrolled at a university holding an Erasmus+ Charter for Higher Education. The traineeship must relate to the student’s degree programme and to their personal development needs and, wherever possible, they must be integrated in student’s study programme.

Planned duration of the traineeship period: at least 2 months, 3 months are recommended.
Planned dates for the traineeship period: from March 2020 until November 2020.


Field excavation, documentation of archaeological situations on various excavations in the region of Eastern Bohemia. The main excavation activity will be the excavation in connection with the construction of highway D11 section between Hradec Králové and Jaroměř. This section of the highway runs through the area that was densely inhabited since prehistory. It promises numerous and interesting archaeological finds.  The participation on field excavations will be eventually complemented by activities connected with post-excavation processing of the archaeological finds in the archaeological laboratory at the University of Hradec Králové.

  • You will acquire insights into an archaeological fieldwork and basic skills connected with an archaeological excavation
  • You will acquire understanding of how to work in an international team
  • You will improve communication, language, and social skills

After Confirmation of your Admission

1. Fill in the plan of your traineeship or your learning agreement
2. The Learning Agreement (LA) must be confirmed by you, your home university and the University of Hradec Králové
3. Pre-arrival preparation – insurance, language skills
4. Your arrival must be at least 2 days before the beginning of your traineeship
5. Visit the International Office
6. Start your work
