CT reconstruction is based on the acquisition of 600 X-ray images per sample. The resolution of CT ranges between 55 µm and 120 µm based on the size of the artefact. The resolution of 55 µm can be reached for samples with a width up to 50 mm. The maximum width of the scanned sample is 150 mm.
All kinds of materials found in archaeological contexts can be scanned. In the case of metals, the width of the sample is a limiting factor. It should not exceed approximately 30 mm.
The output includes either static images of sections or videos:
Video showing a flight through one of the axis of reconstruction projection (Neolithic anthropomorphic figurine, ceramics).
Reconstructions can also be viewed in an open-source viewer.
Freely user-defined sections can be ordered, especially suitable for displaying the wall structure of ceramic containers:
Further analyses may be subject to individual agreement.
