The late antique and early medieval cemeteries of Imola

Imola (Forum Cornelii) is a city located in the south-east of the Po valley in Italy, founded in the 2nd century BC. The exceptional features recorded at the numerous and varied funerary sites of the city dating from the 4th-8th century AD has the potential to turn them in a reference frame for the transformation of the Roman world and the shaping of the European early Medieval communities. To that aim, new hypotheses and cutting-edge statistical and analytical methods will be used to shed new light on overarching issues such as mobility, social stratification and spatial organization.
